Tell someone in what way you appreciate them. We are doing this for Christ and for the person we are seeking to encourage along the lines of Ephesians 4:29

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

Below are some advanced lessons for encouragers.

There is a difference between praise and encouragement. Praise is a judgement that you make on a person. It makes the person dependent on you to give them your compliment.. Encouragement focuses on the person being encouraged, the value is in them and the focus is not on the encourager.

Praise

“Your hair looks nice today”

Encouragement

“I love your sense of style”

Praise

“What a lovely picture you have drawn”

Encouragement

“I appreciate the effort you have made in drawing your picture.”

Please share how you went.

  1. I’ve deliberately encouraged two people recently. I actually forgot about this challenge for awhile. Remembering to look for an opportunity to encourage someone changes the way I think and approach people. It makes me look for qualities in them that reflect the image of Christ. The way they make an effort to be on time or do their work well, the way they are respectful in the way they relate to me and others.
